Events

We invite you to join us at the events and programs that the Bong Naturalist Association hosts or co-hosts. Some are annual events, some monthly and some vary every year!

First Day Hike—On New Year’s Day, State Parks across the nation host hikes. Join in the celebration to start your year out right. Dogs are welcome on this hike. Dress for the weather!

Return to Romance—held near Valentine’s Day, you can warm someone’s heart with a candlelit walk, a bonfire, music, fine desserts and warm drinks. You must pre-register for this adults-only event and there is a nominal fee.

Knee-high Naturalist— Knee-high Naturalist is for 3 to 5 year-olds and a grown-up in their life.   The goal is to provide environmental education through stories, crafts, hiking and playing outdoors. The program is offered every month on the second Thursday from 10-11:30am. The program is free but pre-registration is required.

Nature Faire—Held the first weekend in June when there is free admission to State Parks this event is fun for the whole family! Join us for food, raffles, live animals, art and nature booths plus much more! There’s a different theme each year. Some activities are free and the rest have a charge of no more than $5.

Wolf Lake Trail Run/Hike–On the last weekend in September, you can enjoy a scenic one-mile hike or 5K run around the lake to raise funds for the park. There are door prizes, raffles, homemade bakery and pottery mug awards.

Eco-Halloween Hike— Meet some characters at this non-scary, family event that occurs in mid-October. Enjoy jack-o-lanterns, Halloween skits, campfires, refreshments, games and crafts. There’s a different theme each year. Cost: $2/person.
