Then join us for a guided hike on one of RBSRA’s many trails and learn about the unique eco-systems at the park. \n \nEarth Day Crafts\n1 – 2 p.m.\nLearn about the Earth’s place in the universe and our role in protecting the special planet\, we call home. Create Earth Day crafts using recycled materials. DESCRIPTION:Knee High Naturalist – May Program:  A Time to Grow!!! \nThursday\,  May 14th \n10:00 – 11:30 am \nEach month the BNA offers a program for 3 to 5 year old Knee High Naturalists.  Enjoy a morning of child-centered nature exploration and\, in May\, learn all about growth in the natural world around us!  Enjoy a story\, craft and hike with your Knee High Naturalist! \nMeet at Shelter 1.  If you have a large group\, varied ages or any special circumstances\, then please email the BNA at bongnaturalistassociation@gmail.com so that we can prepare to accommodate your group. \nPrograms are free\, but you need a Wisconsin State Park admission sticker or pay the daily park entrance fee. \nBNA’s Knee High Naturalist is a recurring program for 3 to 5-year-olds and a grown-up in their life. DESCRIPTION:  \nBuckthorn Removal Volunteer Day at RBSRA!!! \nSunday\, May 17th \n1:00 – 3:00 pm \n  \n  \nCome help the Bong Naturalist Association (BNA) clear Buckthorn from around the Richard Bong State Recreation Area (RBSRA) Visitor Center on Sunday May 17th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. \nNear the Bong Visitor Center we have some beautiful\, mature hardwood trees. Unfortunately\, underneath these trees\, Buckthorn has moved in! \nWill you help us make this park area more appealing?  The park staff cannot do a prescribed burn here as it is too close to buildings so it has to be done manually. \n\n\n\nBe sure to wear long pants\, a long sleeve shirt and sturdy shoes. Bring safety glasses and work gloves (Buckthorn).\nBNA will provide loppers.\nA certified BNA volunteer will treat the stumps and fellow volunteers will haul away the piles brush.\nStay and help us for as long as you like.\n\n\n\nNote:  If you have school service hours to fulfill\, we can sign off on your time spent volunteering. \nJust a reminder that all events require a Wisconsin State Park entrance sticker or daily entrance fee.

If you have a telescope bring it along. Siblings are welcome.  Our goal is to provide environmental education through stories\, crafts\, hiking and playing outdoors. \n\nWe always plan to be outside – so dress accordingly – but in the event of bad weather\, the Knee High Naturalist Program will be held in the Visitor Center.\nOur program will always occur\, but sometimes the topic will change due to weather issues.\n\nJust a reminder that all events require a Wisconsin State Park entrance sticker or daily entrance fee. \n

DESCRIPTION:  \nThursday\, July 9th \n10:00 – 11:30 am \nJoin us for Nature Explore Family Club!    Family Club will be held every Thursday morning from June 18th through July 23rd.  (Note: There will not be a Family Club on July 2nd.)  Come for one or all sessions! \nMeet in the Nature Explore Classroom (NEC) behind the Visitor Center at Gathering Area #2. \n \nJuly 9th:  WHAT CAN YOU SEE IN A CLOUD?  \n\n\n\nLearning to calm ourselves is important for all of us.\n\n\n\nWhat is Family Club? \n\n\n\nNature Explore Family Club at Bong is for 5-10 year old children and an adult  (or car pool group with one adult) to enjoy outdoor experiences. Siblings are welcome to attend.\nEach program includes story times\, movement and music as well as nature-based art making experiences with time to explore the NEC during and after your class.\nThe activities will connect families with the outdoors and each other\, while introducing them to a variety of natural spaces.\nIn each session\, we will explore a different theme.  Class topics will be selected from the National Nature Explore Classroom research-based\, field-tested resources.\nBring your own snack.\n\n\n\nRegistration is appreciated\, sign up for one or all sessions. \nPlease call 262-878-5601 to register. \nJust a reminder that all events require a Wisconsin State Park entrance sticker or daily entrance fee. \n
