DESCRIPTION:2025 Master Naturalist Volunteer Training at Richard Bong State Recreation Area – Day 3\n \nBong Naturalist Association (BNA) is proud to once again be a host site/training center for the Wisconsin Master Naturalist Volunteer Training Program!  The program is under the authority of the UW Extension System and training will be held at Richard Bong State Recreation Area (RBSRA.) \nClasses will be held on Monday\, Tuesday and Thursday\, beginning Monday\, July 14th and ending Thursday\, July 24th (“Last Day Celebration”.)   Presenters are top tier and experts in their respective fields.  The course involves 40 hours of training and is focused on learning about nature education\, nature restoration\, and connecting natural communities. \nThe training includes mostly hands-on outdoor experiences and interactions with expert guest speakers\, with some indoor instruction. \nWe will cover geology\, water and plant communities\, wildlife\, ecology\, climate and weather\, natural history\, human connections\, and how Master Naturalists can use their new knowledge in our community. \nOnce trained\, a Wisconsin Master Naturalist provides volunteer service in one of three areas:  education/interpretation\, stewardship or citizen science.  To maintain certification\, volunteers must complete 40 hours of service each year and eight hours of additional training. \nFor more information about the Master Naturalist program\, please visit https://wimasternaturalist.org/ \n  \nRegistration is now open!  Go to the following to sign up for the BNA program.  If full then please sign up for the wait list!  https://wimasternaturalist.org/training/volunteer-training/bongnaturalistassociation2025/ \n If you are unable to register online then please contact:  info@wimasternaturalist.org \nFor other questions\, contact us at: bongnaturalistassociaton@gmail.com \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Knee High Naturalist:  Scales & Slime \nThursday\, July 17th \nBring your 3 to 5 year old\, enjoy a morning of child-centered nature exploration and learn all about reptiles and amphibians!  Enjoy a story\, craft and hike with your Knee High Naturalist! \nYou may even get to meet some special scaly friends!! \nMeet at Shelter 1.  If you have a large group\, varied ages or any special circumstances\, then please call 262-818-1712 and\, if necessary\, leave a message so that we can prepare to accommodate your group. \n \nPrograms are free\, but you need a Wisconsin State Park admission sticker or pay the daily park entrance fee. \nKnee-high Naturalist is for 3 to 5-year-olds and a grown-up in their life. Siblings are welcome.  Our goal is to provide environmental education through stories\, crafts\, hiking and playing outdoors. \n\nWe always plan to be outside – so dress accordingly – but in the event of bad weather\, the Knee High Naturalist Program will be held in the Visitor Center.\nOur program will always occur\, but sometimes the topic will change due to weather issues.\n\nJust a reminder that all events require a Wisconsin State Park entrance sticker or daily entrance fee.
