Hi Everyone,
It’s that time of year again. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Here it is again, the long awaited hike schedule. Also, it is time to renew your trail dog memberships. It is $25 for the first dog and $10 for each additional dog that you have. You can sign up at the hike when you come for the first time next year. We will be having a prize each month for the person who hiked the most miles that month. If any of you have any other ideas to improve our program please let me know.

The Wolf Lake Trail Run Hike is a 3.8 mile run/hike that takes place on the Blue Trail encircling beautiful Wolf Lake. Beginning and ending near the beach, the course traverses a variety of hills, grass-land and woodland. The lake is visible throughout most of the course. Strollers are not recommended for this trail. This annual event is held in September.

Hi Everyone,
Here is the hike schedule for the rest of the year. You will notice there are a few Saturdays where there is no hike listed. That is not a typo, those are the Saturdays that I have a competition with my dogs so won’t be there. If any of you decide to hike those days just send me an email with your mileage.
Also, you will notice that we are back to our regular times starting next month so sleep in a little and have that extra cup of coffee!
Remember, if any of you have any suggestions as to how we can promote the trail dog program, expand our activities, have special events (cgc, potlucks, breakfasts, etc.) please let me know. Remember, this is not my program, this is our program. Let’s get out there and have some fun. I am open to any and all suggestions. See you on the trail.

Richard Bong State Recreation Area and the Bong Naturalist Association will hold its annual Spring into Fitness wellness challenge during April and the first week of May at Richard Bong State Recreation Area, 26313 Burlington Road.
Teams of two to four can register for $10 each during the month of April or at the kickoff event at 9:30 a.m. April 6th. Participants will then hike a trail and will meet at the Visitor Center.
Participants will earn points for engaging in healthy behaviors, including being more physically active (hiking, biking or other activity of choice), engaging in healthy nutritional habits (drinking water or eating more fruits and vegetables), and participating in stress-reduction activities (yoga, dancing or sunrise/sunset viewing).
While special events will be offered at the park throughout the month, people may participate in the activities of their choice anywhere. This event will reintroduce the community to the pleasure of a healthy lifestyle and a great natural resource while raising funds to be used for park improvements.
Businesses, family, friends, schools, youth and church groups are all encouraged to participate.
To receive a registration form or for more information, call(262) 878-5600 or visit Richard Bong State Recreation Area during office hours. This event is sponsored by the Bong Naturalist Association.
